Lecterns |
A lectern is a stand to hold a Bible. |
During a church service a member of the congregation will usually come to the lectern to read a passage from the Bible. So lectern = reading stand. (It's like the word 'lecture' - when a speaker reads their notes to an audience.) |

This lectern is in a Catholic church. Both of these lecterns have a light over them to help the reader ... ... and a microphone. |

You could try this. Choose a story from the Bible - say Luke chapter 8 verses 22-25. It's the story of how Jesus calmed a storm. Practice reading
it out loud. Make sure your voice is slow and clear. Think about
the drama of the story and the feelings of Jesus' friends. Put that
into your voice. |

You could ask to do your reading in a church service or visit or school assembly. |
